Baby Jerusha Drusilla, a newborn baby girl, is fighting for her life in the NICU at Sooriya Hospital, Chennai.

Jerusha was born at 38 weeks through a normal delivery. Soon after birth, she experienced severe breathing difficulties and very low Apgar scores, requiring immediate resuscitation, intubation and ventilator support. She has been diagnosed with Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy (HIE) Stage II, along with respiratory distress, shock, metabolic acidosis and heart dysfunction. She is currently receiving ventilator support, IV fluids, antibiotics and other critical treatments.

Doctors have advised that Jerusha needs continued NICU care for approximately 3–5 weeks. The estimated cost of her hospitalization is ₹4–5 lakhs, an amount her family is struggling to arrange.
